Yellow Scales Lichen

Well, I think it's yellow scales lichen, but this one isn't very scaly, and yellow scales is a coastal lichen and this isn't very near the coast. Maybe someone better informed will enlighten me. Anyway, there's a lot of lichen in the Burren of various types and this is one of them. It forms bright orange splashes on the drystone walls and adds to the winter colour when the flowers are absent. This lichen seems to me to particularly favour vertical rock surfaces but I'm not sure why. Maybe it dries out in direct sun? Anyone know the answer?
