Heath Spotted Orchid

This orchid occurs in large numbers on patches of wet ground near the Perfumery. It doesn't like limestone but survives in the Burren by inhabiting hummocks of peaty ground, a trick it shares with heather. It's pretty and varies a good deal in shape size and exact colouring of the flowers. Photographed near the Perfumery in late June 2005.
