Ben Rua

This mountain is just North of Mullaghmore. It has an amazing swirling grain, almost like wood. To see it at its best hike up Mullaghmore early in the morning (a great experience in itself as Mullaghmore is full of interesting sights) then walk North across the summit and look down on Ben Rua while the light is still low enough for the shadows to pick out all the detail of the rock. Seen here in mid-Summer, but also very good in mid-Winter when the colour of the dry grasses give it its name of the Red Mountain.
