Yellow Flag or Wild Iris

This Yellow Flag and attendant bumble bee was photographed in our Herb Garden in June 2004. Flags grow wild throughout the Burren wherever there is enough surface water to support them. They are particularly common in the Southern margin of the Burren where the underlying shale stops the water draining away. They seem to be a great favourite with bees.
