Scaly Male Fern

This (I think) is a scaly male fern, photographed June 2004 in the woods around the Perfumery. The hazel and ash woodland in the Burren is full of ferns of all shape and sizes. I could photographs ferns forever for their delicate beauty, but I have yet to properly capture the magical green light that fills the spaces between the hazel canopy and the ferny floors of the Burren's little woods. Go for a walk there and see it for yourself. Eagle's Rock is especially good.
