I think this is a pearl bordered fritillary, but I'm open to correction. (Nov '06 - I have been corrected. Many thanks to Darrell Watts for telling us this is a Dark Green Fritillary.) I photographed it on the East side of Ben Rua in a curious little stunted glade. Not without a lot of very lengthy and cautious sneaking up on specimens perched on clover heads only to have them flit off just as I raised the camera. Photographing butterflies is like that. If you see someone stalking around the Burren in very small circles with a long lens and a lot of swearing - that'd be me. July 2004
