Wood Anemone

These delicate flowers appear in the dappled hazel woods of the Burren in late Spring, sometimes in great profusion. Seen from the front, the petals are shiny white, making them difficult to photograph in the shady underbrush, but photographing from behind their translucence becomes evident and the tracery of pink and mauve veins on the back of the petals is revealed.
