Primrose

Primroses are common throughout the Burren under the hazel scrub. They flower mainly in April and May (this image taken May 1st 2004). Most of the woodland flowers (e.g. wood anenomes, violets, wild garlic) appear at this time before the canopy above is in full leaf. However I have seen primroses flowering deep inside grykes in mid-summer and violets in October!
