Spring Gentian

The spring gentian is undoubtedly one of the prettiest Burren flowers and the one most closely associated with the region. They occur in small clusters wherever the grass has been kept short by grazing. These ones were photographed near the road at Slieve Carran in late May, but not before I had climbed a thousand feet up the mountain to search the plateau for them, only to discover these on the way back to the car.
